Sally Appiagyei Delivers Keynote Address for World Day Against Child Labour

The 2012 World Day Against Child Labour occurred on June 12th. Sally Appiagyei, founder of Solutions for Life Initiative - Ghana, spoke at a gathering on the 12th to raise awareness about the issue: "World Day Against Child Labour should not just be a day on the UN Calendar where large sums of money will be given out to people [...] but a day to implement practical solutions that will take almost all children off the streets [...] a day we, at SFLIG, wish and pray will be celebrated and remembered as marking the end of the era of Child Labour."

SFLIG Creates a Learning Center for the Cherubs Children’s Home in Apire, Kumasi


A small painting project turned into a long term creative arts center for the community and learning center for the orphanage, accompanied by a delicious lunch and free medical check-up for all 45 children of Cherubs.

Ghana Bamboo Bikes Initiative Wins World Business and Development Award

The Ghana Bamboo Bikes Initiative, founded by Bernice Dapaah, has been named a recipient of the 2012 World Business and Development Award. The Initiative takes advantage of the abundant bamboo found in Ghana to design, develop, and market bamboo bikes and frames and related products and services in an effort to improve living standards in disadvantaged communities.
